Comprehensive exams include a thorough evaluation of your child’s medical and dental history. We examine your child’s head and neck, teeth, gums and oral soft tissues. We also observe your child’s occlusion (bite) and jaw development and monitor for any crowding or orthodontic needs.
Preventive & Diagnostic Dentistry For Children

Procedures Offered
Regular dental cleanings help keep your child’s gums healthy and teeth cavity-free. We use specialized tools to gently remove plaque and tartar buildup that cannot be addressed by regular brushing alone, helping keep your child’s mouth healthy and clean.
Dental radiographs or x-rays are an important diagnostic tool we use to detect decay and pathology and evaluate the growth and development of your child’s teeth and jaws. Our state-of-the-art digital x-ray equipment obtains detailed images with minimal radiation exposure and is safe for children. When taking radiographs, we follow the guidelines set by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the CDC’s ALARA principles (As Low As Reasonably Achievable). We will not take unnecessary radiographs on your child. However, radiographs may be recommended to provide vital information for diagnosing and monitoring your child’s dental health and development.
Fluoride is a natural substance that strengthens tooth enamel and protects your child’s teeth against cavities. We apply this as a quick, easy, allergen-free varnish where your child can eat and drink right after your visit.
At each visit, oral hygiene will be assessed and instructions given to each patient and their parents, including tips and techniques for proper brushing and flossing. Small children will need help from a grown up to properly brush their teeth until first or second grade.
Sealants are a protective resin coating that are applied to the chewing surface of the permanent molars. Sealants protect those hard to reach molars by making their deep grooves more shallow and preventing food and bacteria from lingering on the teeth, leading to cavities.
Space maintainers help preserve the gap left by a missing tooth and guide erupting permanent teeth into the correct position when early loss of a baby tooth occurs. They are important in ensuring proper alignment of the permanent teeth, preventing misalignment and crowding.
